As you know, we give ideas on how to “ENGINEER” the perfect lifestyle.

We have what we call: The Five Equities of Life – Spiritual, Financial, Family, Mental, and Physical. Basically, everything that happens to you falls under one or more categories. As a whole, these categories make you the person that you are. In order to be a really happy and well-balanced person, it is important to maintain balance in ALL five equities at the same time!

This is where it gets difficult as we usually have two or three categories going well and one or two out of whack.

So how does one maintain full balance in all categories?

The best idea is to start here and read all of the blogs. Each week we will cover one specific “Equity” and you will see six different posts on that one topic.

This weeks topic is “SPIRITUALITY” and is one of my favorite!

Take some of what I say and some of what Ayla says and come up with something that works for you. Then implement one new thing from this week, then implement something from next week, and so on.

At the end of one year you will have implemented 52 new things into your current lifestyle!

Think about that – 52 NEW THINGS! Let’s look at the other side of the coin – if you implement 52 new things you have to get rid of some old things because there aren’t enough hours in a day to do 52 new things.

We are asking you to build a better lifestyle for yourself and that means adding some new positive things and cutting out some of the things that hold and bog you down.

Since we are talking about spirituality this week, maybe you start by reading the Bible just 7 minutes a day. That means you have to give up 7 minutes somewhere else.  Maybe give up a fatty snack that takes 7 minutes to eat – like a bag of chips, or a bowl of ice cream or something along those lines. In fact, if you read the Bible for 7 minutes and gave up a bag of chips that would ALSO help you in the “PHYSICAL EQUITY” at the same time 😉 !

If you have never read the Bible or haven’t picked one up in a long time I suggest you start with The New International Version. You can even read it online OR on your phone! Personally I like the way the Bible feels, having Gods words in my hands, the feel of the leather-bound book, just the presence of such a powerful tool right in my hands, so I read an actual Bible.

The further you go back with Bibles, the more difficult they are to read in today’s language (or lack of it..haha.) so again, The New International Version is in modern language so that you can understand it better.

When people who have never read a Bible first start reading they typically have no idea where to start so they start in the beginning. Personally I LOVE the Old Testament! Adam and Eve, the story of Noah, Joseph, Moses, God smiting entire villages for being so rotten, the story of Samson, David and Goliath, and so on. I know them all so well and love to read about them.

However, when God sent Jesus to us it was to save us, to give us the ONLY path to heaven, to give us “New Laws” to follow and to give us direct contact with GOD Himself! What  wonderful God…He wants to have a personal relationship with us, He wants us to talk to Him anytime we want, He is there for us 24/7, He guides us down a path of success and so much more because He loves each and every one of us just the way we are!

Based on that, I usually have people start in the New Testament. Open the Bible to the New Testament and start right there with the first book – Matthew, then Mark, then Luke, and then John. The first four gospels are about the life and times of Jesus and will give you a greater understanding of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit – our Holy Trinity!

Once you understand what Jesus and His disciples did for us, it will open your eyes to a whole new, exciting world. Then, from time-to-time, read a story from the Old Testament – personally Joseph is my favorite story! I love how he came out of such adversity to such a position of power and how much forgiveness he had in his heart – amazing story!

So this week I challenge you to read your Bible for just 7 minutes a day and replace that 7 minutes with something that you know you don’t need.

It takes 21 days to make a habit and another 21 days to make it part of your lifestyle. So 42 days from now you won’t even think twice about this 7 minutes!

As you read the Bible you will see why I picked the number 7…when you figure it out, send me a comment!
